ORDER OF ST. JOHN.

CONFERRED ON* NEW ZEALANDER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The secretary of the Dominion executive of St. .John Ambulance has received a communication from Colonel R. C. Bingham, secretary of the historic Order of St. John of Jerusalem, that the Duke of Connauglit 'and the Chapter-Genera] have, with the sanction of the King, admitted Mr. W. W. Dutton, of Wellington, as a member of the order of St. John for devoted service to the ambulance department and its subsidiary Red Cross branch. Mr. Dutton is widely known for his gratuitous service to the sporting community, and the honour referred to entitles him to wear the famous eightpointed star instituted by King Baldwin, 810 years ago, during the Crusades. His Excellency, Sir Charles I-'ergusson, is to be asked to present the insignia to Mr. Dutton.
