OPOSSUM SKIN SALE.
PRICKS AT DUNKDIX
DaJgety and Company. _ Limited. Auckland, report having received the following advices from their Dunedin house in reference to the liltst opossum skin sale of the season: — The total offering of the eight Helling brokers was skins. Of this quantity, our catalogue comprised 5240. Generally speaking the quality of the skms was not up to the standard of the first sales in previous years. The proportion of good colours was small and the condition of the pelts poor. This can probably be accounted for by the mild autumn and winter which was so generally experienced prior to the opening of the trapping season. Fortunately, however, to compensate for the lower quality, prices showed an improvement compared with last season's values.
Skins from most district arc comprised chiefly of blacks and browns, and price# for these colours showed the biggest rise. In our opinion prices at next sale will be equally good, with possiblj' an improvement for secondary sorts. « our ca talogue consignments from Auckland averaged 8/6 to 11/6. Following is the range of prices from seconds up for average consignments: — Blues, 10/6 to JO/; blacks, »/ to 16'"6; greys, 9/6 to 16/; browns, 6/6 to 11/; reds. 6,6 to 9/o; slates. 6/4 to 10/7; 4,5 to 6 " ; »" wB
