BRUNTWOOO CHEESE COMPANY,

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Bruntwood Cooperative Dairy Company _ was held to-day, Mr. H. J. Ambury (chairman) presiding over an attendance of 40 suppliers and shareholders.

The annual report showed that advances had been made during the year 011 account of butterfat at the rate of 1/5.24 per lb. For the year the Company received 4/52,11511) of butterfat, from which 530 tons of cheese were made. The average test for the season was 3.90Q5, and the average grading 91,898. Total cost of manufacture was 1.43710 d per lb. Early in the season the company installed a waxing plant at the factory, and the innovation had warranted its existence by effecting a considerable saving in shrinkage. The board recommended that out of the estimated surplus of £6067 15/2, a further payment of 3d per lb butterfat be made, thus bringing the total payout for the season to date to 1/8.24 per lb butterfat. The sum of £924 8/4 had been collected during 1 he year on account of share capital deductions.

Arising out of the auditors' report, the chairman explained that no allowance had been made for starter and whey butter manufactured for the company by the New Zealand Dairy Company, and when the tinal payments were received the payout would be even better than shown in the report. The chairman congratulated the suppliers on the awards won—Auckland provincial championship and second and third in Dominion championship—a"t recent shows.

The greatly improved general position of the company, compared with a year or two ago, was referred to by shareholders, the chairman and directors being heartily congratulated.

There was a short general discussion on the operations of the Dairy Control Board, it being the general opinion that, apart from the regulation of shipping and in kindred directions, the board was not warranted. HERD TESTING AT KAITIEKE

_, Th , operations of the Kaitieke Herd Testing Association for the season recently closed have been of a satisfactory nature. Altogether 1563 cows, representit'f? 79 herds, were tested during the season, as against 913 cows arid 49 herds for t>he preceding season, an increase of 620 cows and 30 herds.
