CIVIL ENGINEERS.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD.

The tenth'annual meeting of the Auckland provincial branch of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers was held last evening, the ehairmaa (Mr. L B. Campbell) presiding.

The annual report showed the membership to be 100, comprising 07 city ud 33 country members. Seven technical papers had been read by members, during the year, and visit* had been paid to tike Arapuni hydro-electric works, the dam, and other engineering works. It was decided to hold the quarterly meeting at Rotorua in October.

The election of officers resulted as follows: Chainnan, Mr. W. A. Gray; executive, Messrs. F. £. du Gamier, L. B. Campbell, and D. Holderaeae (dty members), and Messrs. F. C. Bayard, J. F. McArthur, and S. B. Sims (country members); secretary and treasurer, Mr. O. T. Murray.

After the business meeting a paper was read by Mr. F. E. Powell cat drainage work in the Tamaki district. This was illustrated by lantern slides, and was followed by a lengthy discussion.
