DEPENDENTS SUFFER.
PENALTY OF UNEMPLOYMENT MEN PLACED DURING YEAR. [ For every unemployed person in the , Auckland district, which embraces Thames and Coromandel, there are two others who suffer as well. According to figures supplied by the Auckland Government Labour Bureau during the twelve months ended March 31, 4792 men, with 10,254 dependents, were placed in positions, as compared '> with 3033 for the corresponding period tof the previous year. Of the men -assisted, were absorbed by public -works, 171 were engaged on tree plantt ing by the Forestry Department, 2087 were employed on local body relief t works, and the remainder were placed with, private employers. ,
