OBITUARY.
BISHOP W. GORE-BROWN. BORN IN AUCKLAND. DIED AT KIMBERLEY. The death occurred at Kimberley Hospital on March 10, of the Right Rev. Wilfred Gore-Brown, M.A., following upon, a serious operation. Deceased was 69 years of age, and the youngest son of the late Colonel Sir Thomas GoreBrown, who was Governor of New Zealand from 1855 to 1861. The late bishop was born in Auckland and educated at Harrow and at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was called to the Church, and was ordained in 1882. He was curate of Pallion, Sunderland, from 1882 to 1883; St. Hilda's, South Shields, from 1883 to 1887; St. John the Evangelist, Darlington, from 1887 to 1889; and curate of St. Hilda's, Darlington, from 1889 to 1902. Then going to South Africa, Sir. Gore-Browne was for seven years rector of Pretoria, from 1902 to 1909, and afterwards Dean of Pretoria until 1912. He was appointed Bishop of Kimberley and Kuruman in 1912. in which year he was enthroned first Bishop of Kimberley.
