POLITICAL SONGSTER.
Galli-Curci In U.S. Presidential
Fight.
MUSICIANS TO HELP HOOVER,
NEW YORK, March 25.
Much interest has been aroused by a statement made by the Secretary of the Interior, Mr. Hubert Work, tliat the Secretary of Commerce, Mr. H. C. Hoover, now has enough probable votes to secure his nomination for the Presidency on the first ballot at the Republican National Convention.
The first touch ] of gaiety in the political campaign comes with the announcement that a committee of noted musical artists, headed by the prima donna GalliCurci, has been formed to support the candidacy of Mr. Hoover. Madame Galli-Curci says there is a belief that musical
folk are not practical folk. This is obviously untrue. Therefore the support of leaders in musical art in an important political campaign is significant.
"We apree that Mr. Hoover is no politician," said the singer, "but we think it would be a good thing to have a President who ig so beloved and respected by other nations as he is."
