SUCCESSFUL MEETING AT
HENDERSON. BRILLIANT SPRINTING BY BUTLER A further stag© of the athletic season was entered upon on Saturday when the Henderson Oddfellows' Amateur Athletic Club held a sports meeting at Henderson, in conjunction with the AA..A. and C.C. The sports were capably handled by the secretary, Mr. B. T. Murray, an old-time hurdle champion, although the crowd on occasions encompassed the track, but this was soon remedied. The feature of the afternoon was the fine sprinting of A. Butler, who competed in the 75, 100, and 220 yds handicaps, and gained two firsts and a second. He won the two former events very easily, but was rehandicapped for the 220 yds event, and could only finish second, about ljyds behind L. H. Meredith. The Auckland sprint champion, A. J. Elliott, was not a competitor. The points cup, presented by the Star of Henderson Lodge to the competitor securing most points for the meeting, was 'won by B. T. Murray.
