REMUERA CHAMPIONSHIP.

BARTLEET BEATS STEDMAN.

Playing sparkling tennis at the Remuera Club courts on Saturday, E. L. Bartleet won the club championship by beating A. C. Steadman 6—3, 7—6,

Neither player struck form until four or five games had been played in the first set, but theu Bartleet started a strong attack, showing a nice variety of strokes, going into the net occasionally for a kilL Stedman stuck to the winner in the next set and there were Hashes of brilliancy by both players. Bartleet became erratic In the next, missing many easy shots. Stedman took the advantage and he had the champion on the run.

Six all, seven all, eiglit all, was called in the deciding set. Then Bartleet broke through Stedman's serve, and, playing brilliantly, won his own fairly easily, taking game, set and match. Results of other games played at Remuera were:—

WIN FOR CITT PLAYERS. HAMILTON, Saturdays The annual match between represenrtatives of tbe Auckland Tennis Associati on and the Waikato Tennis Association Mas played at Hamilton on Saturday. Slight rain fell early in the afternoon and a Strang wind was blowing. Eighteen games w<re played, of which Auckland won eleven. The combined doubles were not played to failing light.
