OAMARU MEETING.

FINALE AT WINGATUI.

KING BALBOA STILL VICTOR.

OPEN SPRINT TO SOLROSE.

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") DUNEDIN, Saturday.

There was fine weather for the second day of the Oamaru Jockey Club's autumn meeting, held this year at Wingatui. The track was again in excellent condition. Tho totalisator handled £14,654 for the day, compared with £8525 on the second day last year, making a total for the meeting of £•28,764 (16 races), compared with £17,458 for 14 races last year, when the meeting was held at Oamaru. At the start of the Hurdles, Red Heather and Hard Prince showed out from Scion and Beauty Light. Hard Prince hit the grandstand hurdle hard, but managed to hold his place till the mile post was reached, where Scion passed him. So they ran to the far turn, where Beauty Light passed Hard Prince. Red Heather continued to hold the lead, and won easily by two lengths from the fast-finishing Scion.

The favourite, Meadow Lark, was chopped out at the start of the Shorts. Karitano and Pilaster were first to break the line, closely followed by Some Signal. Racing round the far turn Some Signal took charge from Karitane and Phaster, and they raced into the straight in that order. Tardy then came from the bunch, and at the distance-post was just in front of Some Signal, Phaster, and Karitane. The lastnamed got a clear run, and managed to get up to beat Tardy by hrlf-a-length. Felony was fourth.

King Balboa jumped out smartly in the Memorial,j and led down the back from Fairy Herald, YVingatui, and Heather Lad. At the far turn the favourite was a neck in front of Fairy Herald and Wingatui, with Heather Lad ' a length and a-half away. Entering the straight King Balboa was going along nicely. At the distance Overhaul came fast, but King Balboa went on to win easily by a neck fn m Overhaul. Streak came at the finish of the Weston Trot from well back, to win by a length from Needle, with Drake half-a-length away. For the Stewards, Apple Dighton led to the straight, where Solrose came through to win by two and a-half lengths.
