WEEK-END FIRES.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. A two-roomed cottage in Consols Street, owned by Mr. W. K. Wright, of Onehunga, and occupied by Mrs. Annie Temple, a widow, was totally destroyed by fire on Saturday night. The house was practically destroyed before the alarm was given. It was valued at £50. There was no insurance on the contents. HOKITIKA. this day. A fire which broke out at three o-cloek this morning in the centre of Revell Street, gutted Stephens Bros.' tobacconist's shop and hairdressing saloon. A billiard room at the rear was damaged by water. The contents of tlie saloon and shop were destroyed. The adjoining premises were undamaged. The insurance on the billiard tables was £100. on the fittings of the salocn £50, in the South British office, and on the stock £500 in the Royal Exchange office.
