WHILE LIBERATING BULLOCK
Mr. Peter Bayer, a farmer of Tabekeroa, was brought to the Auckland Hospital yesterday from Helensville, where he received preliminary medical treatment for injuries received while working with a bullock team. . In the first place Mr. Bayer was driving a team of bullocks across a railway, line near his home on Saturday evening when a passing train struck the. animals, killing one outright and injuring another. Some of tHe timber which the team was pulling at the time of the accident was used to make a derrick with which to raise the injured bullock. While this work was in progress Mr. Bayer slipped, and, falling on to the animal, the wooden framework fell on top of him. He sustained fractures of the jaw. the nose and the back of the skull. After receiving treatment in hospital he spent a good night and his progress to-day is reported to be satisfactory. Mr. Bayer is a married man.
