Do not be content to grow the same crops year after year, and to feed in the same old way, without trying out new ideas to see if modern methods of cropping and feeding are superior to the old.
Under no circumstances keep old stocks of manure on hand, but appljj them during the season to whatever crops may benefit by their application and remember that the finer the texture of the manure the more evenly can it" be distributed throughout the soil.
In some places silage takes the place of pasture entirely. For the average man it will do better, for it supplements it. Silage has also proven its adaptability for replacing hay, but here again it will be better to feed it with hay. Silage and lucerne are the fundamentals of success.
