NO BIONB OF SETTLEMENT

(Bjr Cable.—Press AwwUiloa.-Coj.j-riflii.)

BRISBANE, September 6.

The Arbitration Court to-Cay again failed to reach finality in connection with the railwaymcs's strike. A representative of the Disputes Committee informed the Court its proposals had been telegraphed to the men themselves, who had been asked to telegraph their decisions. The Court therefore adjourned until to-morrow.

It U not anticipated that the mm will accept the term* offered. Recognising that a genera! strike of transport worker* with the antagonism of the whole community against it would hare little likelihood of rocceti, a committee of the combined union* advised all the other union* not to become involved hi the dispute. It i* realised, however, that if the Government attempt* to run a skeleton train service the member* of the Bead Transport Worker*' Union will become involved, a* they will be called upon.to handle ''black* - passengers. When Parliament met to-day the Premier, Mr. W. McCormack, moved that the Hott*e adjourn until to-morrow. He •aid the next move in the dispute would be made by Parliament. He bad moved the adjournment in order to give the member* an opportunity of thoroughly understanding the position. When members entered the House they took aa oath to abide by constitutional govern* ment. If a member gave his allegiance to an outside body acd not to Parliament, then the only result would ba a revolution. The Premier said be was speaking on behalf of the whole of the members of the Cabinet, who were prepared to stake their entirs political existence on this question. The motion was supported by the Leader of the Opposition. The Hotti* is still sitting. A telegram from Melbourne «ay* an official of the Transport Union there ha* received advice from the Queensland branch to the effect that unless the dispute is settled to-day it is proposed to declare petro: "black." This would involve all the transport unions, the seamen, throughout Australia.
