The Bonnie Chief horse, Sheik, seems to have struck his best form since returning to Australia, and following a victory in a two miles race a fortnight ago at Epping, he was responsible for a fine performance on Monday week last in the Flying Mile at Victoria Park. Conceding starts ranging up to 60 vards Sheik, driven by P. Riddle, looked *to be' hopelessly beaten at the home turn, but to the delight of his backers he produced a brilliant finishing run which I landed him a winner by a neck. He started favourite, and that there was no loitering on the trip is shown by the tune, 2.10J, which is only 1J seconds outside the course record for eight furlongs
