MORE TENNIS COURTS.

TWELVE FOR THE DOMAIN.

AUCKLAND TOURNAMENTS. Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, at their meeting last night, decided that the Auckland provincial championship tournament should be held on January 26, 27, 28. and 30, and the handicap tournament on December 24, 26, 27, and 28. It was reported that Auckland had been promised the next fixture in the North Island. championship, and it was decided to apply to the New Zealand Association for permission to hold the gathering at Easter, commencing oa Good Friday. It was-announced that a!definite decision to construct tennis courts at the Domain in the vicinity, of the pond' had been made by the City Council, and the chairman of the Parks Committee, Mr. F. W. Brinsden, had intimated that the assistance of the association in an advisory capacity would be welcomed. Messrs. Hickson, H. G. Thomson, E. W. Griffiths and G. L. Taylor were appointed to confer with the committee. It was stated there was room for 12 courts, and the opinion was expressed that six should be grass and six chip. Owing the fact that there had been no competition recently for the Dunlop Shield, an interdub trophy conducted on Davis Cup lines, Mr. Griffiths suggested it should be presented for competition among country districts in the association's area. This was agreed to, and a committee was appointed to frame conditions.

Warm appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. C. Motrin as the BirkenheadXorthcote delegate and a member of the Match. Committee was expressed, and hie resignation, owing to departure from Auckland; was received with regret. Interclub competitions will b» discussed at the nest meeting.
