LIFE IS LONGEST.

LEADS THE WORLD.

LONDON, August 7. According to figures given in the "Medical Journal," the average length of life is increasing so rapidly that by 1960 the expectation of life will be 72 years. The scale increases rapidly, from 61 years in 1930 to 65 in 1940, and 69 in 1950. The paper says: "Judged on an average basis New Zealand, where the average ages at death are for males 62| years and for females 65, is the healthiest country in the world." The figures for England and Wales at present are for males 56, and for females 60. The American average is 58.
