Walker, and A. Robinson, , Pukemiro; Bell, Waipa; and T. Hall and Wood. ij The matter in dispute was that Messrs. Slater and Branaghan had been . denied the right to go on the coal—a , privilege wMicli the miner.* contended , wan due to them —and preference in this I respect had been given to two other I 1 men. The terms of the settlement are that Mr. Slater be employed for the remainder of the present quarter with x a. miner whose mate is absent on sick leave. Mr. Branaghan, on the other ! hand—the man whom the company was [prepared to place on the coal all along I —is to be employed with another miner ;for the balance of the quarter and for itlio next succeeding quarter.
