WAIHI. Th* acting superintendent reports as follows :—• During the period ending 4th June, 1927. the principal work carried out underground was as follows:— No. 15 Level. —Edward lode. The southwest drive was continued to 240 ft. The average assay value from 214 to 242 ft is 3/1 per ton. A crosscut at 242 ft proved the full width of lode to be 62ft. Assay value is as follows :—First 14Jft of little or no value; next 20ft 24/ per ton; last 27Jft 12/« per ton. Driving will be continued south on the 24/ section. Martha lode, north section: Eastward the drive has been carried to 1241 ft; the average assay value from 34 to 112 ft is 36/3 per ton. At 62ft the total width of the reef is BJft, the average assay value being 42/6 per ton. No. 14 Level.—Widening operations were continued on the Edward lode from 294 to 321 ft south of Dunlop crosscut; the average width taken was 15Jft. Truck sampling over this work averaged 41/11 per ton.
No. 10 Level.—Piper east crosscut was carried to 206Jft. Work has been stopped. A mixture of quartz and country 2ft wide was intersected at 123 ft, the assay value being 1/9 per ton. Diamond Drilling.—No. 2 hole to intersect the Edward lode is down a total of 468 ft. The country passed through contains occasional stringers of quartz. No 16 hole has been drilled to 139 ft. At 73ift a vein of quartz 12in wide was intersected, assay value 7/11 per ton.
