CLIFF AT HERNE BAY.

A landslide on the western waterfront in the vicinity of Cox's Creek caused a heavy fall of cliff last night. A house in Rawene Avenue, off Garnett Road, Heme Bay, was left within twelve feet of the cliff edge. Formerly the cliff was a picturesque piece of the foreshore, the growth upon it making it most attractive from the harbour, but to-day it was a bare face of clay, surmounted by pohutukawas, which had prevented the landslide from being of » much more serious nature.
