"MISADVENTURE."
DEATH OF MRS. PINFOLD,
KNOCKED DOWN BY CYCLE,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
i-I-LIXGTO2\, Sunday,
An inquest was held yesterday concerning the death oi Mrs. Elizabeth Pinfold, aged 66, wife of the Rev. Dr. Pinfold, from injuries received when she was knocked down by a motor cycle on the main Karori Road on Tuesday evening.
The evidence showed that Mrs. Pinfold, together with a friend, was walking along the tram lines in the middle of the road. Cyril \ incent Shivnan, an engineer's apprentice, was approaching them from behind on his motor cycle! He was travelling at about 15 miles an hour. He saw the two women, and when about 50 yards from them sounded his horn. He again sounded the horn, and swerved to the left of the road. It was foggy at the time, and when he thought he had passed the women a darkform seemed to fiit in front of his machine. He turned his cycle, but the right handlebar struck Mrs. Pinfold, knockins her down.
The Coroner: It seems to me clear that the unfortunate death of Mrs. Pinfold was due to misadventure. There is no evidence of a lack of proper driv:ng of the motor cycle.
A verdict of accidental death was returned.
