SEPTUAGENARIAN BANKRUPT
CREDITORS EXPRESS SYMPATHY. DISCHARGE TO BE FACILITATED. Sympathy was expressed at a meeting of the creditors of Thomas Hunter, a launch owner, which was held this morning, and it was decided that every step should be iaken to facilitate bankrupt's discharge. The schedule showed that bankrupt owed, in all £490. He stated that he was 72 years of age, and had been a launch-owner on the Waitemata for the last nineteen years, and also had a farm at Greenhithe. Up till 1914 he was assisted by two sons, but the latter went to the war and were killed. He then carried on with the assistance of another son. Some years ago, an opposition launch service was commenced, and bankrupt had one of his boats involved in a which resulted in the vessel having to be laid up. He had had some difficulty in financing his property, but believed, with the assistance of the mortgagees, it could be disposed of, and a surplus shown that would pay all his debts. He valued the propertv at £4470. After several questions had been asked, a motion to facilitate bankrupt's discharge was carried.
