SOMERVILLE'S DAY OUT. WESLEY'S BIG EFFORT. STUDENTS DRAW WITH MOUNT EDEN. On soft, rain-sodden grounds th© worst of conditions were experienced in the championship matches at Remuera on Saturday. Naturally the general run of play suffered, and garner of a strenuous nature, marked by hard hitting, resulted. The attendance of spectators was greatly increased by the presence of the country players who are in for the tournament next weekand Wesley had pride of place, and although tho prospective champions ran out winners by 4 goals to nil. it proved one of their hardest games of the season. Wesley put tip a great fight, and kept their net intact for the first half. Mount Eden and University fought their game out to a draw —5 goals each —a penalty bully at the last moment saving the students. A ret a overcame St. Luke's by 2 goals to 1. UNIVERSITY V. MOUNT EDEN. This pa mo was full of excitement from end to rod. Mount Eden led at halftime by 3 to 2. after the ncore* bad been level for some time. A coal by Pbllpott opened the scoring, and a lltOe later Kelly evened matters, while Fletcher added another ajralnst the students In quirk order. Then Hamilton again bmnsbf the scores level, bnt Just on half-time Radcliffc put one Into the net. and Mount Eden led again. Early In the pw>dil ppell a shot by Penman put the students on terms, but Immediately after Woolford scored two coals In quick succession. In a desperate finish the students, per medium of goals by Radclllfe and Seelrn. managed to draw level again, the game finishing 5 aIL ARETA V. ST LUKE'S. Areta bad the better of the early exchanges and Bayson scored an earlv goal. The retirement of Hookham with an injured leg did not Improve patters for St. Luke's, and before half-time 3. Carter added another goal for Areta. A Williams. Injured In a collision, bad also to leave the field, hot St. Lake's played a stubborn game deifpite the low of two players, nnd after fighting off Home keon attacks, thev took the aggresitive and Bay scored. The game resulted In a win for Areta by 2 to 1. SOMERVTLLE V. WESLEY. Somcrrllle maintained their winning wav against Wesley, and despite a keoji defence on the part of the tatter, which resulted In no scoring in tbe first half, the leaders were not to be denied. In the second half SomerviUe put on four coals, the scorers being Seccombo (3) and C. Watts. AUCKLAND LADIES' TEAM.
