THISTLE STILL UNBEATEN. TRAMWAYS SHARE POINTS WITH NAVY DEPOT. SHORE EASY WINNERS. Soccer fixtures suffon .1 greatly by the postponement of play on the Domain and Victoria Park on Saturday, and less than half the programmo was got through. Thistle and Ponsonby fought out a stubborn duel on Blandford Park, victory going to the all-conquering Scott. On the Dock ground Navy and Tram* ways divided tho points, while on the Devonport Domain Shore found Northcote easy victims. Tho Onehunga v. Y.M.C.A. match was postponed. NAVY GET POINT. It was a case of mndlarklng in the rain at the Navy Reserve. Devonport, on Saturday, bat considering the sodden state of the ground, a good game was seen between the representatives of the Senior Servi« and Auckland's tramways. Tramways gained the lead in somewhat lucky fashion, when play had been in progress 15 minutes. Lewis put in a well-judged centre, and Bell, placed on-side owing to the keeper having handled the ball, scored a simple goal. After 35 minutes. Navy attacked strongly on the left, and although Simpson cleared from Black, the Ball went n<-ross to Bell, who had no difficulty In scoring. Half-time:— Navy 1, Tramways 1. A Tramway attack ended by Lalng overrunning the ball, whilst at the other end Black spoiled a promising opening by attempting to gather the ball instead of trying a first-time shot. Stewart ndding the finishing touches. Carelessness in front of goal was responsible for a penalty to Thistle, Williams tackling Dunsmore, who was playing a great game, as he waa sailing through to goal. J. Stewart took the spot kick for Watt to save brilliantly. Ponsonby then attacked through Mooney who gave to Bell. The c«ntre set out on his own. but passed to Adshead who sent over a clever left foot hook kick Zuill rushed out to fist clear, but the ball was out of reach, and Hunter back headed into the net. Half-time arrived with the score: Thistle 3, Ponsonby 1. At the opening of the sccond spell, Ponaonby went off with a flash, and it was twonty-two minutes before Thistle got to within effective striking distance of Watt. The ball went from Dunsmore to Cummlng. and back across the goalmouth, where J. Stewart was handy, and promptly tapped the ball out of reach of Watt for his third goal, and Thistle's fourth. Ponsonby besieged Thistle's goal, and by sheer determination scored their second goal, Pickett scoring from Hunter's corner with Zuill unsighted. Thistle 5 Ponsonby 2 SHORE TOO SMART. j North Shore attacked from the outset, and Moore getting possession put in a short run and opened the 6core for Shore. North Shore 1, Northcote 0. Northcote pressed, and some good play by Tremain and Burford took play to Shore's goal, where Hart i finished the effort with a shot which Lipscombe cleared. A moment later Tremain dropped a free kick Into the goalmouth, and a score was narrowly averted. Lipscombe just clearing. Burford then broke awny, but kioking too hard loßt a good chance of scoring. Shore then had a turn at attack, but tho defence held. Northcote again »began to press, and some exciting play took place round Shore's goal but the defence held. Shore forwards then broke away, and Hlbbert slipping at the critical moment Woolley secured and scored, giving Lyon no chance to save. North Shore 2, Northcote 0. After both had attacked a corner was conceeded, which was placed right Into the goal by Cleal. Lyons Jumped to save, but the ball slipped through his hands. North Shore 3, Northcote 0. Northcote forwards broke away and Burford was given possession with an open goal, but hesitated to shoot, and Lipscombe came out and saved. The winners showed the better combination, and adapted themselves more successfully to the heavy ground. Richardson, Storey. Moon and Jamleson scored for Railways, and Maxwell for Huntly Thistle. Rotwaro, 7, defeated Hamilton Wanderers, O, in a match at Rotowaro. Dodds scored five goals. Ptikemiro juniors defeated Claudolnnd* Rovers by 4 goals to 1, in a contest at Pnkemlro- Hamilton East School defeated Hamilton West by 2 «oals to 0, the latter fya playing for the first time.
