BEGGED FOR MEAL.
OLD MAX BEFORE COURT.
James Griggs Cummings, aged 74, begged a shilling for a meal from persons in Victoria- Street yesterday,- and. was this morning charged in the Police. Court before llr. W. R. Mclvean, S.M., witt being an idle and disorderly person. Accused pleaded guilty.
Chief Detective Cummings stated accused liad been about the town for some weeks. He had a list of numerous previous convictions. Mr. Cummingt did not think it wise to send the old mar to goal, and thought that the aid o: Captain Davis should be sought.
The magistrate remanded accused fot a week to see what could be done for him. Chief Detective Cummings said lis would get in touch with Captain Davis
