SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS.
THREE MEN CHARGED.
TWO REFUSED BAIL,
GIRL SERIOUSLY ILL.
(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, thij day. Three men appeared in Court to-day charged with having unlawfully used an instrument on a female. Two of them were charged with using an instrument with intent to procure miscarriage. It was stated that one of the two women operated upon was dangerously ill in hospital. ''Bail is refused when the girl is in danger," said 3.r. Mosley, S.M.
Tho three accused were Walter James Alexander Mitchell, Harry Allen Fellingham, and Robert Grant Bastion. There wero two charges against Mitchell of having used an instrument and charges relating to June S and June 14. The charge against Fellingham related to Juno S, and that against Bastion to June 14.
Chief Detective Lewis said that Fellingluim and Bastion had each been responsible for the condition of separate females before the operation, and that Mitchell had performed the operations. He asked for a remand for a week in tho caso in which Mitchell and Bastion wero concerned, the girl being dangerously ill. l'cllingham was given bail at £250 and two sureties of £12.1 each. The other two were detained in custodv.
