POSITIONS IN ENGLISH LEAGUES.
RELEGATIONS AND PROMOTIONS. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, May 17. The Football Association leagues have now closed. In the English First Division the positions at the top are in the following order: Newcastle, Huddersfield, Sunderland, Boiton, Burnley, Westham. In the Second: Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Manchester City, Chelsea, Notts Forest and Preston, North End. In the Third: Southern, Bristol City, Plymouth, Millwall, Brighton, Swindon, Crystal Palace; northern section, Stoke City, Rochdale, Bradford, Halifax Town, Nelson and Stockport County. / Promotions from the Second to the 'First League are Middlesbrough and Portsmouth, and from the Third to the Second, Bristol City and Stokes City. . Relegations from the First to the Second League are West Bromwich and Leeds City, and from the Second to the Third, Darlington and Bradford City. The following must apply for re-elec-tion to the Third League: Aberdare and Barrow.-*-(A. and N.Z. and Sydney "Sun").
