DOCTOR'S BILL DISPUTED.

BUT DEFENCE WITHDRAWN.

JUDGMENT FOR FULL AMOUNT

(Bγ Telegraph.—Own Corr*epondent.l . HAMILTON", Tuesday. A claim for £52 10/ for medical fees was brought in the Magistrate's Court to-day by Dr. Archibald Joseph against Elizabeth Stanaway, widow, of Te Aroha, and formerly of Hamilton. Mr. Strang, for the plaintiff, said that in August, 1025, Dr. Joseph was called to attend ' defendant's daughter, aged 16, who was suffering from pains in her wrists and ankles. Hβ diagnosed the ease as one of mild rheumatism. Rheumatic fever supervened. Plaintiff visited the child 137 times, sometimes urgently and at night, and consulted on five occasions with other doctors. On her condition Drs. Douglas and Fraeer would state that their examination of the. girl confirmed Dr. Joseph's diagnosis. On one occasion plaintiff asked Stanaway if she would care, to employ another doctor but'she expressed herself as quite satisfied. The girl eventually was sent to hospital and she died in April of last year. Counsel could not imagine- on what -grounds plaintiff now sought to defend the action. On the resumption of the case defendant consented to judgment for the full amount.
