BMITHFIELD PRICES.
LAMB MARKET FIRM
The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated May 6, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follows:—
Mutton.—New Zealand wethers and maidens: Canterbury quality, selected brands, 56/ under, 6%d, 57/64 6d, 65/72 4%d; other brands, 56/ under 57/64 65/72 New Zealand ewes: 64/ under 4%d.
Lamb.—New Zealand: Canterbury quality, 36/ under 9%d. 37/42 B%d, 43/50 B%d, seconds B%d; selected brands, 36/ under 9%d, 37/42 B%d; other brands, firßt quality. 36/ under B%d, 37/42 second quality, 30/32 average B%d. Australian lamb: Victorian, first quality, 36/ under, B%d, 37/42 7%d. Argentine lamb: First quality, 36/ under Bd, 37/42 7d.
Beef.—Argentine chilled beef: Ox fores. 2%d; ox hinds, 59id. Argentine frozen beef: Ox fores, ox hinds, 4%d. Frozen Pork.—Bo/1201b, B%d; 120/1801b. 7%d.
Lamb.—Market firm with good demand for lightweights.
Mutton.—Prices have advanced for light weights; heavy-weights slow.
