MATCH AT WELLINGTON. THE FINAL DAY'S PLAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The weather was fine for the third day of the Wellington match with the Melbourne eleven. Hollings and Hiddleston opened Wellington's second innings, Melbourne having a lead of 139 runs on the first imiags, to the bowling of Hendry and Ebeling. The wicket was covered overnight, but rain penetrated at one end.

Both batsmen shaped well from the start, and 20 appeared on the board after as many minutes' play, both batsmen having made some nice shots to the boundary. Hendry - was bowling well, and had Hiddleston beaten once or twice.

With the total at 2S Ransford replaced Ebeling (no wickets for 12 runs in four overs). Hollings got him away to the leg boundary, but this was the only scoring shot of the over. In Hendry's next over Hiddleston was almost caught at square-leg by Dakin, who was fielding as substitute for W. Armstrong. A period of quiet play followed, broken only by a boundary shot by Hiddleston off each bowler. This brought the batsman's total to 30. Hollings was IG. Fifty appeared on the board after 42 minutes. Soon afterwards Hiddleston was caught at squa,re-leg by Dakin off Hendry. 54—1—35. Badcock was next, and he opened brightly, sending Hendry to the ropes at square-leg. He followed up with a three off Ransford. Hollings also became sprighclier. At noon the score was GO for one wicket (Hollings 23, Badcock 9). T. Armstrong replaced Hendry (one for 33). With the total at 73 Hollings was snapped up in i.he slips by Hendry, off Ransford. 73 —2—24. McGirr followed, but had a short life, being stumped bv Campbell off Ransford. 75-3—l. Lambert was nest, but had not made much progress before he was well beaten by Armstrong. 91 —4—9. Lamason followed. When he was IS Badcock was badly dropped by T. Armstrong off Ransford. The fieldsman had previously let two balls so through his hands. One hundred appeared in 100 minutes. Lamason was clean bowled by Ransford with the score at 115, The retiring batsman had contributed 15. Kort'iang was next. At the lunch adjournment five wickets had fallen for 122 (Badcock 27, Kortlang 2; extras 9).
