RUGBY FOOTBALL.
STUDENTS AT TWICKENHAM. "DOMINIONS" V. BRITAIN. LONDON, February 26. In a Rugby football match- at Twickenham a team of Dominion students beat a combined Oxford and Cambridge Universities team by 8 points to 6. K. Saxon scored a try in the first half which Bettington converted. Later on Malfroy broke away and dodged several opponents and then- passed to Saxon, who scored a second try for the winners. In the Dominion students' team Bettington was the only Australian, the New Zealanders being J. Malfroy and K. Saxon at centre three-quarters, and S. Gilmer, who played forward. Saxon was the outstanding player. His first try was the result of a splendid swerving run, when he cut through the centre. He nearly scored another try but slipped a yard from the line, after beating the defence. Gilmer played a great game as wing forward and Bettington was always prominent, and he converted . a try. Malfroy tackled well. The students were somewhat lucky to win as the Universities, aided by a strong wind, maintained an almost continuous pressure for a great part of the second half. Only strenuous and wholehearted tackling kept them out.
