ACCIDENTS IN THE CITY.
COLLISIONS BETWEET VEHICLES. EIRE ENGINES INVOLVED. By an extraordinary coincidence, two false alarms of tire led up to collisions yesterday between two lire engines and a motor bus and a motor cycle respectively. Ihe tirst occurred shortly after eleven odock, at the corner of Great South Road and .Market Road, and, strangely enough, the collision was indirectly due to a previous collision between two motor cars at Epsom, which resulted in a telegraph pole being rliat tered, and a lire alarm suspended to it be in .sr set in motion. The Kemuera tire engine was 011 its way to answer this call when it crashed into the motor cyclist at the Market Road corner. Fortunately, in neither case were the injuries serious. Hie second collision, in which a fire engine was involved, was of a more sensational character. The enirine was travelling along Customs Street in answer to a false alarm from Little Queen Street, when a collision occurred be tween it and a motor bus engaged in the Point Resolution service. Although the bus was full at the time, no passengers were injured, and the firemen also escaped. Slight damage was caused to the bus. but the lire engine was badlv damaged, and tram traffic to Heme Bav was held up for about a quarter of an hour until tlie engine was hauled to the side of the road. It is thought that a contributory cause of the accident was the fact that the two drivers had their view obstructed by a motor car travelliner alone Albert Street between the two vehicles imiuediatclv prior to the accident. Motor Car Overturned. A five-seater motor car was overturned in a collision with another ear at the corner of The Drive and Or.-low Read. Epsom, shortly after six o'clock last evening. Both ear* were badly damaged, and two of the passengers in the car which overturned were badlv cut and bruised, but were able to proceed to fheir homes after receiving medical attention. Another collision occurred at the corner of King George Avenue and Manukau Road. Epsom, soon after mid-day \ esterday. between a motor ear and a motor cycle, as a result of which the driver of the motor cycle. Mr. Rowland I'lnllipsi of :17. Calgary Street. Eden dale, was taken to the hospital. sufl'ering from a fractured jaw and other injuries to the face, in addition to an injury lo the left le<_'.
