DRAINAGE SCHEME DEFEATED

Proposals for two loan? were put to the vote at Avondale 011 Saturday. The scheme to borrow £1200 for the extension of tite main sewer was defeated by •19 to 51, but a loan of £900 to reticulate a portion of the south ward, and £1300 to assist householders were approved by 1!) votes to 17. This, however, is of no avail, since the first proposal was rejected.
