AN HISTORIC FLAG.

In a recent issue of your paper I read a most interesting account of the historic Union Jack captured by Hone Heke and now in the possession of Mr. Walter Rutherford. I notice he is considering to whom he will give tins llag after his lifetime. May I make a suggestion? Hone Heke is buried in the Kaikohe Maori Church Cemetery, and on a hill near the township is a monument erected to his memory. Would it not be appropriate if this flag was placed in the Kaikohe Maori Church? Hone Ileke's memory is revered by all his race, and I think they would greatly treasure the flag captured by him, especially as for many long years they have so loyally served the Union Jack. FRIEND OF THE MAORI PEOPLE.
