Handicapped by a military overcoat and a pair of heavy gum-boots Mr. Charles Clifford Arthur Capp, a you 11" married man, fell off Mr. Charles' I'liif lips' launch near Seatoun Wharf last evening and was lost in the darkness and drowned. —
Capp resided with his wife and child in Terry Street. Seatoun, and was a linesman employed by the City Council.
Phillips. Capp and two companions left at eleven yesterday morning and were returning. They were only 200 yards from the wharf when the fatality occurred.
It was very dark at the time Capp went forward to get the anchor lope ready. He was seen to slip over tbe side and disappeared in the darkness. A strong swimmer, he had little chance of reaching safety in the heavy t»ea owing to the clothing lie was wearing. The bodv has not vet been recovered.
