DEVONPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Devonport i Borough Council was hela last evening. The Mayor. Mr. T. The club asked 1 the council to finance the proposal and pre- 3 pare the courts. After discussion on a ways and means, it was decided to favourably reply to the Tennis Club. (, Footpath Repairs.—Complaint re im- ! ! properly formed footpaths in existing con- , tracts was replied to in a communication 4 from N.Z. Roads. Ltd., wherein they , promised to remedy any defects to the satisfaction of the borough engineer. jj Narrow Neck Leases.—The borough solicitor submitted a batch of leases In the f council's estate for signature. This T brought the comment from Mr. Massey that 3 purchasers of these properties were havinc I financial difficulty owing to the delay in thS J execution of these documents. The town <> clerk reported that there had been unavoid- v able clerical and legal delays, but that in \ the absence of the official lease a validating \ certificate from him would be sufficient -R authority for a State Advances loan.
