Parkei created a world's record by capturing his 200 th wicket for the season for the fourth time in his career. In the match in question he took live wickets for 114. Mills took six for 28. For L«icester Geary took five for 29. Gloucester won. Surrey in their first innings against Middlesex made 579 runs for five wicket? and declared (Hobbs, not out. 316; Jardine, 103; Sandham, SS). Middlesex in their first venture scored 275 (Hendren . not out, 101; Dales. 52) and in their second 241 (Stevens 631. Holmes took . four wickets for 49. Surrey won by an \ innings and 63 runs. Essex in their first innings against Hampshire made 49S for six wickets and ! declared (Cutmore, 53: Freeman, 52: O'Connor, 62; Russell, 156; Nieholl, SI: Douglas, not out. 54) and in their second 131 for seven wickets, declared (Russell 57). Hampshire scored 354 in their first effort (Tennyson, 111; Mead, 90; Ken nedy. not out. 51) and 146 for one in their second (Day. 59; Brutton. not out. 65). The match was drawn.
Notts in their first venture against ' Lancashire made 202 ( Wbysall, 07; Carr : 67). Mac Donald took rive wickets tor ' 03. The second innings only yielded 199. Mac Donald took six wickets tor ' SO. ' Lancashire in their first inning? compiled 454 (Makepeace. ISO-. E. ' Tvldesley. 140) and in their second 3^ for no wicket*. Lancashire won by ten wickets. For Warwick against Somerset Calthorpe made 103 not out. For Somerset Macßryan scored 129. The match was drawn. For Yorkshire against Glamorgan Leyland made 191 and Robinson 124 not out. Robinson took five wickets for 56 and Macaulay seven for 32. Yorkshire won. The leading percentages for the county 1 championship are now as follow:— Lant eashire. 75.71; Yorkshire, 74.23; Kent. : 65.71.
