Wansbbne, J.P.s, Alexander Andrew, jun., farmer, of Tatarariki, was charged with that, on August t 31, at Te Kopuru, he was found in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor car in a public place. Accused , pleaded guilty. [ Sergeant Griffiths stated that, about 5.30 o'clock on Tuesday night, when bet tween the hospital and Te Kopuru. accused ran into a milk cart that was f off the road at the time. The three j occupants of the cart were thrown out j on the road, but were not injured. The I cart was damaged, also the car. The j magistrate, the sergeant said, was now , imprisoning this kind of offender, but . accused was a decent farmer, and had never been before the Court previously. , He thought a small fine and cancella- . tion of his driver's license for a term I would be sufficient punishment. Accused t had stated that he had not been well j lately, so had taken five or six drinks. , Accused also had beer in the car. I Accused was convicted and fined £5, , plus costs, and also had his driver's , license cancelled until March 31, 1927. i
