SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The Auckland South African War veterans held their seventh annual meeting last evening, Lieutenant-Colonel E. G. Fraser presiding.

The annual report stated that the past j'ear of the association had been a success, and that at the annual conference at Wellington good work was done in the direction of obtaining recognition by the Government of the association's claims for pensions. Cabinet had agreed that a South African veteran who qualified for the old age pension would also be entitled to the South African pension of £26 a year.

The following officers were elected: — Patron, Colonel H. R. Potter; vicepatrons, Messrs. A. M. Samuel, M.P., C. G. Macindoe and C. Jewell, Lieut.-Col. J. E. Duigan, Major T. H. Dawson and Lieutenant-Colonel J. Hardie Neil; president, Colonel E. G. Fraser; vice-presi-dents, Mr. W. G. Camp and Captain Attwell; executive, Messrs. C. Johnson, J. Hughes, W. J. King, W. J. Little, G. H. Rothery, S. H. Grundy, P. E. Ilbeit, J. Munroe and Major Halpin; secretary, Mr. W. G. Marks; treasurer, Mr. A. G. Bertram. Colonel Fraser was elected delegate to the Dominion conference.
