Travelling on a greasy road at 20 miles per hour, the driver, it is stated, applied bis brakes just before he came to the Newmarket Police Station. The wheels locked, and skidding badly on the greasy road, the cur came to grief as described above. It was the intention of the driver to stop at Middleton Road to pick up another passenger. The driver and Mr. Ronald Empson, of Victoria Avenue, and -lis_ Deborah Watt, of Ingram Road, Remuera, were not seriously hurt. Miss Watt was taken into the police station, and, after a time, was able to go to her home. The car was smashed coneiderably. Hospital authorities say that the condition of the injured girl is not serious. She was suffering from concussion, and had not recovered consciousness up till tbe time of going to press.
