WIZARDS OVERWHELM AUCKLAND. ELEVEN GAOLS TO ONE. Ton thousand people were treated to a splendid exhibition of hockey when the Indian Army team met tin; Auckland representatives on the Domain on Saturday. The visitor.* won by 11 goals to 1. The Indians won the bully and progressed to Auckland's twenty-five, where Cole returned. A free-hit against Dhian Singh gave Auckland a footing in the visitors' twenty-five. Smart work by Captain Belehamber, who passed to Susainthan, giving India a footing on Auckland's circle edge. Cole cleverly intercepted and returned play to the half line. A big cross-hit by Capt. Cox to Capt. Belehamber saw the latter enter Auckland's circle. The visitors gained a penalty corner. The shot was saved and the ball came back to Dhian Chand who found the net with a hard shot. The ball travelled down the left of the field and smart work between Seceombe, E. Watts and Hookham forced play to the visitors circle where Capt. Cox saved. A free-hit to the visitors further relieved pressure. C. Watts snapped the ball and made a dash for the circle. Close play followed and the ball crossed the goalline. From the bully Auckland attacked strongly, but the visitors gained a freehit or offside by Hookmnn. Dhian Singh sent the ball to Capt. Cowan who hit across the field. Davis stopped progress and returned play to the visitors' twenty-five.

Auckland Attacks Strongly. Side-line play followed, till Potter sent to C. Watts. He raced through to the circle edge, and passed to E. Watts, and in the scramble tht ball crossed the goal line. Away went the India vanguard, and a sharp attack, in which much aerial work was seen, ended in Captain Cox shooting and missing the net. Sangara Singh got away from the hallway line raced through to the twenty-five, and centred. The ball came to Captain Belchamber. who sent in a stinging shot to the net.

India 2 Auckland 0 India secured from the bully, and racing through to the Auckland circle, a chance came to Dhian Chand, who added the third goal. The Auckland forwards gained possession from the bully. E. Watte passed to G. Watts, who raced to the circle, but Ghulan Ali rushed out and cleverly saved with his feet. Captain Cowan, from his own twenty-five, passed to Dhian Chand.,He ran through, and sent to Capt. Belchamber who shot high and netted. From the bully at the Auckland twenty-five, Dhian Chand secured, passed to Captain Belchamber and Sangara Singh. The 1 all returned to Capt. Belchamber. whose shot went over the net. Still India pressed, till Davis brought ofl a neat save. Auckland's hopCM ran high as their vanguard rushed away, but Dhian Singh saved. A fine passing run from halfway by the Indian vanguard saw Captain Cox pass to Susainathan. but Davis came across and save:!, a twenty-five bully resulting. Davis hit to Hookham. who raced down the right line, and outpacing the opposition, sent in a fine centre. K. Watts missed, but C. Watts was handy, and snapped the ball, but only found the outside of the net. C. Watts met with a mishap. From side-line play at the fifty flag, the left of the Auckland vanguard attacked. Close play followed in India's circle, Dhian Singh saving. C. Watts met with another mishap and was replaced by Anthony. The Indian forwards raced imfield and reached the Auckland circle. Davis was equal to the occasion and drove back to midfield. The visitors were soon back, but offside play gave Auckland relief. The Indians were now hitting the ball about freely at the Auckland twenty-five, but Cole relieved the pressure with a big hit to Kishan who returned play to Auckland's territory. Davis again with clever stick-work sent back and set the forwards in motion, a short attack ending in forcing a corner. The visitors intercepted the shot and smart work by Capt. Belchamber again set Tndia on the attack. Dhian Chand raced through and found the net. but the shot was disn'lowed, and from the free-hit Baildon drove to the visitors' quarters. Close play on the left line followed, but when Auckland's chances looked bright Ivsl'in hit hard upfield. A free-hit to India from the half line enabled them to rear l Auckland's circle, but Davis came across and saved. A breakaway by' Sangara Singh caw a fine centre got in. where Captain Cox received, and found the net with a hard shot. .Half-time was called India 5 Auckland 0

India was first away upon resuming going through to the Auckland circle Potter saved with a big hit to mid field. Passing between Watts and Bur ton ended in the latter transferring t< Hookham. Close play on India's circl. followed, relief coming with a free hit Excitement ran high when India launched a hard attack. Wilkie saved but the ball flew across the goal mouth Davis hopping in to clear. The rel c was but temporary, as the Indians, wit , a central movement, raced through, an. Dhian (.'hand shot their sixth roal. A couple of free hits enabled Auckland t' advance. A timely pass by Radcliti took play to Seceombe. and the Aucklam vanguard raced to India's circle, wher offside by Hookham spoiled the chance E Watts headed another attack, and Dhian Singh just saved from danger Captain Belchamber, Dhian Chand am! Captain Cox pressed, and forced a penalty corner. The home team intercepted, and Potter cleared to Seecombe. He transferred to E. Watts, who. racing through, outpaced the defence, but Chilian AH ran out and kicked clear. Still Auckland attacked, and Secvombe. sent a shot which went out. A mishap to K. Watts caused a stoppage of play, and upon resuming smart passing by the

visiting forwards took play to Auckland's circle edge, where Kadcliffe saved with a reverse stroke. A few moments later Dhian Chand advanced with some very clever stick work. A sharp Army attack ensued, which Captain LSelehamber finished by tinding the net. Sharp Attacks by Visitors. The visitors' forwards, with a scries of sharp attacks, pressed hard, but the Auckland fullbi-.cks saved the situation. Baildon hit to Burton, but Kishan, coming down fast, hit out at the fifty flag. Auckland l.irctd the pace, till Captain Cowan, with a well-placed hit, sent to Sangera Singh, add a series of sharp passes occurred, Dhian Chand sending in a shot which Wilkie saved by kicking clear. Auckland took a turn in attacsk, Baildon showing prominently and .-eiidil.g hard to the circle. Play was returned U' the fifty lii-o. Burton attempted an attack from he left, but lost, and the ball crossed the field to the opposite side, where a free hit was given the Indians. Just by the circle edge Auckland failed lo profit by a free hit, and llidia advanced again. The halves and forwards of the Army team were keeping excellent combination, and Captain Cowan sent it to tlie circle edge, but here Davicleared and Auckland made one of its 2ood rushes, only to find that it could not pass the India back?. They came back, and after a tussle on the twentyfive Seeeonihe, Watts and Hookhnm got close in, and pressed (iliulan Ali, but were unable to beat him. lor a short time Auckland were more than holding their own, but Dhian (hand broke away one-handed, and carried past the halfway. In the Auckland return down the right Setvombe and Ilookham were together, but the Army backs spoiled the elTort, and Captain lon dashed across, sending to Sangara Sinali, to Dhian Chanel, who was beaten by Haildon. I'aildon was playing a great defensive game, and beat the opposing rvj.\\t wing in three occasions. Play was carried back and wt-nt out inside the Army twentyfive, where Auckland tried hard, and got a corner. The Indians were on it too quickly for them to make a shot, and the game ended on the twenty-live line with the score: —
