APPLE PLANTING.
VARIETIES RECOMMENDED. At a meeting in Wellington of the Dominion's leading fruitgrowers, representatives of the Fruitgrowers' Federation, the Nurserymen's Asociation, and the Department of Agriculture being present, the merits and demerits of man-v varieties of apples were discussed at some length, and eventually the following list was decided upon:—Recommended for planting for all districts: Delicious, Dunn's, Cox's Orange Pippin, Jonathan, Stunner, Statesman. Recommended for planting where suitable: Cleo, Tasma, Newton, Pippin. Scarlet Nonpareil, Grannie Smith. Recom mended for further testing: Frimley Beauty, Cleo. Recommended for Auckland district: Brighton. Not recommended for further planting: Dougherty
