CRICKET.

SHORE V. ". THE WORLD." CHAMPIONS' TOUGH TASK. Having won the club championship without having experienced defeat, the Xorth Shore senior team to-morrow afternoon will take upon itself the task of trying to defeat " the world" so far as , Aiickland cricket is concerned, in that it will be opposed by a teani chosen by the province's selectors frotn among tlie players of the other five senior teams of tlie city. This game will be played on the cricket ground at Devonport, a charge for admission being liiade for the benefit of £he coacL fund.

The proposal came from the supporters of the Xorth Shore Club, anil although the team ehoseli to oppose the champion club is a very strong one there is a pronounced feeling of confidence across the water. Whatever the result, the game should bfl a good one, and interest will be added to it from the fact of its being played on the home ground, where partisanship is likely to be strong, freely expressed, and provocative of reciprocation from the visiting brigade of onlookers. The teams arc:— Shore— C. l>acrr, A. Scott, L. Elliott. P. (Vcrrard. R. Nettlcton, L. Johnson, A. Player; L;' Montcith, W. J. Coates, It. I'ratcr, S. Townsliend. Tlio Rest.—N. C. Eden Park Game. There has been a deal of comment throughout the season about the desirability of trying out some of the most promising colts in rep. matches, in place of some of the veterans. For this reason there will be plenty of interest in the Colts v. Veterans match to be played at Eden Park to-morrow afternoon. The teams selected for the game arc: — Ycterajis.—S. O.
