MILITARY CAMP POOD.

j (To the Editor.) i ■ Sir,- —We have heard quite a lot recently regarding the above subject <;Mess Orderly" being the last to rush into- print with complaints about the food. I have had a lot of experience both in the Q.M. -Department and the kitchen, and can honestly say that , 1 have" never seen better prepared" food for such a number of troops. Below is just a sample of- what was an every day ration: Breakfast, 6001b of sausages or 160 gallons of curry or stew; dinner (at night), roast. beef and mutton, boiled potatoes, cabbage, pumpkin and onions, plum pudding and white sauce or stewed apples or prunes and .rice, with plenty of butter and milk in it. Just for the information of your readers, who - probably take, all these complaints for granted, 1 give an idea of the amount of vegetables etc., used for one dinner: 70 joints meat, 4 sacks of potatoes. 6 sacks of cabbage, 2 sacks of pumpkins. 4.bag3 of onion?, 35 plum puddings (32 men to a pudding), or 40 gallons of stewed fruit *nd the same amount of rice. 200 gallons of tea_. "M.0." can hardly expect thii amount of food to be served up in the same way as an ordinary family meal would 'be. The boys were also fortunate in .having a very considerate quartermaster, who looked after their wants like a am, etc., . --. FAIR PLAY.:
