YOUTH'S OPPORTUNITY.
■ (To »* Editor.) Sir,— lt is well that this all-important matter is .being introduced through the medium of tout paper. And one must confess there is sound logic in the sentiments expressed by "Dad." "Wasted Energies 15 : may be more appropriate as a heading. Under this present educational system we are but after all only sustaining the "blind alley" principle. Would it not be possible to .provide reliable phrenologists to determine the natural inclinations of our youth's mentality and so determine what avenue of life he should .pursue, before his leaving school? This suicidal fallacy of "as the fatter so the son" is deplorable. Very r often after yeai'3 of study the mistake J becomes apparent, when too late to pick jup the leeway. I am in accord with the j absence of wisdom, too, as expressed in I extending the school age.. Taking into 1 account the precocious temperament to- ! day, wiy,. we may one' day be embar- ! rassed by a .boy, or, rather, youth, bring- ' mo- his bride home' from" school.—l am, etc., A-RTHUR CUiOMiTGS.
