" WRAPT IN MYSTERY."
I MR. NEEDHAM'S CANDIDATURE. It is reported from Christchurch that j the candidature of Mr. Phillip R. Need- j ham, of that city, is still wrapt in mystery. On seeing a Press Association telegram from Auckland, announcing that he intended to contest the Eden seat, Mr. j Xeedham is reported to have asked, "Where did that information come from ?" He was asked if the information in the telegram was correct. His reply to the pressman was: "If they said Liberal. But 'Moderate Progressive' — where did they get that?" Mr. Needham is said to have refused to discuss the matter further, preferring to leave it where is stood —that lie was a candidate j for the seat. Reform Party Organising. x Resolutions approving the selection' committee's choice and pledging support' to the official candidate, were carried, at committee meetings of Reform supporters, j held yesterday at Titirangi, Brooklyn I and Huia. Sir Jamee Gunson was pre-! sent at each meeting. A ladies' committee meeting was held at Avondale to make preliminary arrangements for the campaign.
