AGREEMENTS EXPIRING.
SEAMEN AND MINERS. UNITY CAMPAIGN PREPARING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The present year ie likely to be an interesting cue in the industrial world. The eeamen'e award expires at the end of June, and in the- meantime the teamen have decided to withdraw from the Arbitration Court on April 30. Various agreements under which the ccal miners are working will also run out soon, and the miners are now taking steps to get into touch, with the coal ownere with a view to discussing -wages and working conditions. A meeting of -the national council of the United Mine Workers of New Zealand will be held in Wellington on March 17. The question of what wages demands are to be put forward and the subject of trade union unity generally in New Zealand ' will then be discussed. The miners on the West Coast and in some of the northern unions belong to the United Mine Workers' organisation, but none" of the southern unions are as yet affiliated therewith.
