MR. EDMUND MAHONY.
The death occurred this morning of Mr. Edmund Mahony, a gentleman well known in the legal profession for many years. Mr. Mahony, who had attained the age of 73 years, was born in Auckland, and in 1566 entered the legal offices of Messrs. Henry Hill and Son. Later Mr. Mahony became a law student under Mr. Walter James Hill. He passed his « barrister's examination in June, 18S3, and was admitted to the Bar by the late Mr. Justice Gillies. Upon the retirement of Mr. Henry Hill from the firm Mr. Mahony entered into partnership with Mr. W. J. Hill. In 1897 Mr. Hill retired, when Mr. Mahony became sole proprietor. Mr. Mahony was diocesan solicitor for the Roman Catholic ■Church, in Auckland, also at one time for the Imperial German Consulate and the Austro-Hnngarian Consulate. Of late years failing health caused Mr. Mahonv to retire from active business. Interment will be private. A Requiem Mass will be held at 9 a.m. to-morrow at St. Michael's Church, Middleton Road, Remuera. MR. E. H. RYAN. A highly respected resident of Waipu. Mr. Edwin Harold Evan, died on Saturday afternoon at the Wliangarei Hospital, aged 4S years. When the news reached Waipu on Saturday afternoon, all games of tennis, croquet and bowls were at once postponed. Deceased was the eldest son of Mr. John Ryan, of Mangawai, and had lived at Waipu for nearly 25 years, where he was an active church worker and a prominent member of the show and also the Caledonian sports committees. The interment took place at Waipu Cemetery and was very largely attended. Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter, also three brothers and both parents. s REV. WALTER HARRIS. (By Telegi-aph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The death of a pioneer Methodist, the Rev. Walter Harris, is announced. On arrival, as a young man, from England, he had his first charge in Auckland, afterwards serving at various stations throughout the Dominion and retiring a few years ago on completing his last charge at Addington. He was 77 years of. age. One son is the Rev. A. O. Harris, Methodist minister at Leeston. Another son and daughter reside at Hastings.
