OF THE McGXLL UNIVERSITY. REV. R. SCOTT-WEST. Many friends in Auckland of the Tlev. Robert Scott-West will learn with pleasure that he has had conferred upon him by the McGill University, Montreal, the degree of Doctor of Divinit\\ ilr. Scott-West was for some years minister of St. David's Presbyterian Church in this city, and had a gift for attracting; young men to his services. His house was open one evening each week to any young man who ohose to call and -pend an hour or two ill pleasant converse. Naturally when such a man accepted a call to Sydney, he left many friends behind him in Auckland, quite apart from his own congregation. Mr. Scott-West has now been uimster of the Presbyterian Church at Hurwood, Sydney, for very many years. He was lecturer on practical theology t St. Andrew's Theological College for eleven years. During his ministry St. James' Church building lias been enlarged and a Sunday school built, the whole property now being free of debt. Mr. Scott-West was Moderator of the Presbytery of New South Wales, and : s senior chaplain of the forces of that State.
