AUCKLAND BOWLING CLUB.

PRESIDENT'S "AT HOME." A NOTABLE GATHERING. Saturday was the president's '"At Home" day for the Auckland Club, and the popularity or cms pioneer bowling institution was evidenced by a very large attendance of bowlers and friends representing most parts of the province. The picturesque grounds at the bottom of Grafton Gully have never looked better, the green sward being varied by well-kept gardens, the gaiety of which was supplemented for the day by a plentiful array of bunting. A noticeable new addition to a lengthy array of trophies adorning the walls of the club room was the pennant from Rotorua signifying the win of the recent tournament there i>y the Hub's team skipped by Professor Maxwell Walker. A first-class string orchestra contributed » programme of music and the tearoom, svbere ample refreshments were provided, was the centre of hospitality throughout the afternoon. He suggested that tup function should be designated as "ladies day,"' for it was at this "fixture that the club had its best opportunity to meet an<l welcome tie lady friends of the club.
